Peace at Last

Through this crisis my prayers have been motivated by my urgent needs and intense emotions. Today I woke up feeling peaceful! It was such a nice change. When we go through a crisis, our relationship with God changes to what is needed for the moment. But when the crisis is over, the relationship needs to readjust. It is also very important to connect with God on pleasant days.

Dear God  Today I am at peace in my life. I am truly thankful for this. You are faithful to me God, and because I’m not feeling fearful, I can fully appreciate Your provision.  Thank you for these calm days. Thank you that You are my friend every day.

God’s Word to Us:  I’m so glad you are having a calm day and that you are feeling so well today. That makes My heart glad too. It’s on these calm days that I ask a different question of you. Will you stay with Me on a sunny day too? I would love to celebrate joyful thankful days with you. Peaceful days are glorious. Let’s enjoy today together.

My Heart’s Cry  was to experience joy in my relationship with the Lord and understand how different it can feel seeking Him on calm days instead of  emotionally stress-filled days. I think we can all agree it’s been pretty rough these past couple of months. We have just come through a season of crisis. The key word is “through.” God doesn’t want us to stay in crisis, He wants us to walk through every crisis with Him. Is it time to get back to normal with our relationships, including our relationship with Jesus? Everyday life doesn’t seem as needy.

A couple weeks ago was a huge shift for me: from trying to meet everyone’s needs to just being more normal during our Stay at Home orders. I stopped and rested. I hope you had a chance to do that too.

In sunny California, Spring weather is perfect. The flowers are blooming, showing off their beautiful colors. The trees are blossoming. At my favorite walking place, I saw a family of geese and fluffy goslings. New life is  bursting forth everywhere in nature. There is so much to be thankful for. Yes, this has truly been a trying time, but it will come to an end.

How is your relationship with the Lord today? Is it still running in crisis mode? Where ever you might find yourself emotionally, spend time with Him today. He will always be with you in your times of crisis as well as in your times of great joy. He wants to be with you in quiet peaceful moments where saying thanks comes so easily.

“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

My conversation with Jesus today is like the pillow talk I have with my husband after we’ve lasted though a big trial. We both are in awe that it’s over and we can move on. So our words are short and sweet, relaxed and relieved.

I say:   Thank you for leading us through this crisis.
Jesus says:   I love to be near you all the time.

That was hard.
I know.
It disrupted our lives on every level.
Yes, the struggle was real.
I’m glad I have peace again.
Peace I leave with you.
I don’t want to go through something like that again.
In this world you will have many trials and tribulations.
But yes, I know, “You have overcome the world.
Yes, I have. And a good time to learn this is through trials.
If I have learned this lesson, then can I have a break?
Yes, I suppose you can. Have a joyful summer.
Thanks.

How sweet it is to have our Savior by our side every day.  “Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” He listens to me when I’m an emotional mess and He’s also near me when I’m at peace, looking at His beautiful creation. He loves me and I’m forever grateful for His friendship.

So I ask once more, how is your relationship with Jesus today? Are you at peace? Are you struggling through a crisis? Regardless of where you are on the emotional spectrum, spend time with Him today. Talk with Him from a thankful heart.

May we live in supernatural peace during one of the wildest storms of our lives.
