Fresh Start

I start my week by bringing my concerns to God. This particular week I was weighed down with remembering what didn’t go well last week. For example: I raised my voice when my daughter gave me a sassy reply and I didn’t do well providing nutritious meals for my family. These failures weighed heavily on me. I felt defeated before I even started another week.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I don’t even know what to do about this new week because last week didn’t go as planned. I feel like I have failed again. I’m so bummed! I can’t seem to get my attitude right and be the example to my tween. Also, because I didn’t plan well, my family didn’t get quality meals. They had to fend for themselves or get sub-par meals that left them hungry and snacking within an hour after they were served. Oh Lord, this is just not right. Help!

God’s Word to Us: This week is a new week. A new week for you and a new week for your family too. Treat it that way with a fresh start for each of you. I’m handing you a fresh new week. Try again. Try again to be kind to your tween even when she gives you sass. Try again to prepare really good meals for your family. You can do this week well! And if a part of you struggles, come to me right away and I’ll work on it with you.

My Heart’s Cry: A fresh start is what I needed to hear to move forward and face a new week. I also needed to hear that I need to try again. I’d like to be able to tell you that everything went well after praying this prayer. But it didn’t. So I went to God again and told him, ” I have no idea what to feed my family.” We came up with a creative way to use leftovers. So today I will try again. I’m going to pull the meat from the freezer this morning and set out the other ingredients so I’m not scrambling at the last moment.

Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.
The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17

Take heart friends, some weeks are just harder than others. But when we have a tough week, let’s let it go and leave it in the past. Jesus wants to give you a new week . . . A Fresh Start.
