It is a new season full of new opportunities!
July is the only full month off school. It will get hot this month and stay hot for a couple of months. In fact in Southern California it’s going to be 112 degrees today. Vacation Bible School and Kids Summer Camp are already over. Now’s it’s mom’s turn to make summer fun. The beach is just waiting for us! This picture of me at the beach was taken in January. We have perfect beach weather then. In the Summer though, we are escaping the valley heat to enjoy a cooler day at the ocean. Sometimes, on really hot days, I’d honestly rather just cuddle up in my air conditioned home and watch an old movie, instead of going out in the heat and making a fun day for my daughter.
Prayer: Lord, I pray that whatever season we are in, that we would enjoy the things that make this season fun. Summer with kids equals lots of ice cream, barbecues, lemonade, time at the park, the pool, and the beach. Help me be all in and not wish for a quieter Summer. I know quieter Summers will come way too soon.
God’s Word to us: My child, I see your struggle. You are a quieter soul, more contemplative than most. But you see the value of playing with the kids while they are still young. I will bless you during these short summer months. It is right to enjoy your kids while they are still young. Your older ones are off doing their own things now. Enjoy this time with your last child.
This is the day the Lord has made.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
My Heart’s Cry for us is to rejoice in this day and be glad in it. Enjoy your kids while they are young. My children are very far apart. A quiet summer sounds so nice because I am an older parent now. However, my youngest will be a child only for a short time longer.
Dear God, Help me to be all in this summer. I want to do fun things with my last child and explore with her like I did with my older children. Keep me from burn out. Keep me healthy. Give me energy and strength to give her my best. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Has this been a struggle for you too? I’d love to hear about it and what you did to still have fun with the children in your life. -Kim
