She’s Growing Up

My daughter is growing up. She just celebrated her 9th birthday. That’s halfway to adulthood. And if I remember right from having the boys, the second half goes faster.  Oh Lord, how do I make the most of my time with her?  How do I make sure I impress on her the important things in life?

God’s word to us: Slowdown. My thoughts are not your thoughts and my ways are not your ways. I purposed for her to be with you right now, learning by your side.  As you learn new things she’s automatically learning them too. There is no way you could plan all that I have planned for you both. This is a very special time. So don’t fret. Trust my way for your lives. You will make the most of your time together and you’ll impress her on important things in life. Both will happen naturally. I leave you with this verse.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6

My Heart’s Cry is to trust God’s plan as He leads us while raising our children.  As we learn new things, we include our kids so they can learn them too. When we run into challenges we show them how a Christian handles life. God is using all this to shape our family and prepare us for the future.

I loved what He said, “There is no way you could plan all that I have planned for you both.” This takes so much pressure off me to be the perfect mom by having everything planned, organized and under control. My heart deeply needed to hear this. I really just need to live this verse out day by day, trusting Him and His plans. He will teach me how to best raise my daughter.

Comment on how you feel about your kids growing up. How does God’s word encourage you?
