Relationships at Home

It saddens me to see my family members picking on each other. The younger antagonizes the other members of the family, and the older says hurtful things. We have a pause button on the remote and use it all the time when someone wants to say something while we’re watching a movie. Last night, one family member told another, “I’m not interested in talking; I want to watch a show.” I just feel we are not valuing the relationships within our home.

God’s word to us:  I see how the arguing and disrespectfulness among your family members saddens you; it grieves me as well. I want to restore healthy relationships back in your home, but it will take some work from you. First, I want you to dedicate every family member living with you to me each morning. Then I want you to sweeten the pot. I want you to say ten sweet things to family members each day. You can help change your living environment by doing these two things. After a week, let’s talk about this again. Praying and living by example works. Try it.

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. Eph. 4:29

Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Romans 12:10

My Heart’s Cry for you is for you to remember that God wants to restore the relationships in your home. They are important to you, but they are infinitely more important to God. He is sad when loved ones relate to each other without love. You are not alone in this.

What do you think about His advice to me to dedicate each family member to God, then say ten sweet things to my family throughout the day and night? I can do that!!! Take the challenge with me. Then check in with us in a week. I’d love to hear your stories.
