Daughters are close to every mom’s heart. When friends get together, they often share more about what their daughters are up to than talk about their sons. I think this is because the relationship between mother and daughter is wired differently. It’s a closer type of relationship. They understand each other on a deeper level. We worry more for our daughter’s physical safety, emotional health and relationships.
In Praying for Friends, I share my system for keeping up with friends and their prayer requests. I believe strongly in having a small group you can send a quick text to with prayer requests. Most of these ladies don’t know each other but have been my close friends through the years. Frequently they will send me a text when they need special prayer. It’s a way Christian women care for each other. Yesterday I required prayer; I was sick and in bed. In the afternoon, I sent them a quick text. Soon, I felt their prayers strengthen me.
When I am sick or having Sleepless Nights, I tend to lay there and pray. Recently, I prayed for these close friend’s daughters. I hear these moms’ prayer concerns. I usually pray for them when I pray for my friend. Yesterday, however, as I lay sick in bed, I prayed for all my prayer partner’s daughters. How important of a time this was. So I wanted to share it with my readers.
Here is a prayer you can pray:
Prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank you for my friends. They bless me so. I hear each mom’s heart toward their daughters. They are so concerned because they love their daughters deeply. Please help these daughters understand how much their mom loves them. Keep them safe in your care. Teach them how to have good relationships and please keep evil away from them. I pray for their emotional and spiritual health. Remind them of their need for you, Jesus. Bless these unique mother/daughter relationships; may they be close. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Here is a word to you, mothers: My grace is sufficient for you. My power works best in weakness. Sometimes these relationships weaken. I am here to tell you my strength is still in you. Come to me with your worried heart. I will soothe it for you and soothe it for each friend going through these same trials. I love each Mom and I see the hurt. I know what your daughters have to go through in their lifetime. It is hard. But I was with your mothers too while you were testing the grounds of adulthood. Take courage; I have overcome the world.
“My grace is all you need.
My power (strength) works best in weakness.”
So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses,
so that the power of Christ can work through me.
I Corinthians 12:9
I have told you all this
so that you may have peace in me.
Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.
But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
My Heart’s Cry was to pray for our friend’s daughters. To lift them up as well as our friends. The emotional health of our friends is tied to their relationship with their daughters. When this isn’t going well, our friends are deeply impacted. Seeing this breaks my heart. It is difficult to go through these growing stages of independence our daughters need to go through. We want to do it for them. Or, at the very least, we want them to ask for our advice to help them maneuver through life in a godly way. Each mom wants their daughters to skip some wrong life choices they had made.
My encouragement to you is to pray for your friend’s daughters. It matters. Let the mom know after you have prayed for their daughter. This morning I got a text from a friend whose daughter I had prayed for yesterday, and she let me know that her daughter had a “Great” day yesterday. This warmed my heart. I am taking care of my friend when I bring her daughter’s needs to the feet of Jesus. Jesus cares. He heals. He gives strength. Amen.
