Battling Discouragement

These past few months have been grueling. Emotionally I find myself somewhere between an ostrich and a lion. Some days I feel like digging a hole and sticking my head in because the disappointment is so great. But then other days I feel like more like a lion, full of faith and confidence because I’m trusting that God’s got this.

This attack is on American soil. It is very crafty and took years of planning but here we are. Thankfully God has been faithful to answer our prayer and uncover the corruption from the top to the bottom. We see what happens because evil abounds. Each revelation of corruption has been painful. I had no idea they would try to silence half of the Americans. I had no idea that they would lie, cheat and steal to get their way.

Last week, I decided out of self preservation, to focus on something other than this attack on Christian American values. I just felt like I couldn’t endure the ups and downs of this crisis. So I talked to God about it. My prayer went like this.

Prayer:
Me: I need to focus on something different. Why did I get so caught up in politics this time? I usually don’t.

God: You found news sources that suited you.

Me: I just can’t let it permeate my mind like that. I do care. But these feelings have to stop. I can’t take it anymore.

God: So you’re just going to totally check out?

Me: I don’t know how to balance this feeling of deep discouragement. I really don’t. And if we are going downhill as a nation, I’d rather have my eyes closed.

God: You sound like a coward. That is not who I made you to be. Listen. This has been a rough stretch. And I understand your extreme disappointment, but you can’t check out. You need to have faith that I will work this all out and I want you to watch how this happens. It will be a tool you can use for a lifetime. Your lifetime. I’ll let you in on a secret, it’s about to get good. Please don’t miss this.

Me: Okay. You are right. What do You want me to do?

God: Watch what will keep you informed.

This was like a father/daughter talk. My heavenly Father was helping me stay strong in my faith. Don’t give up on what I want to do in this nation. And if you have your head in the sand, you’ll miss the best parts.

Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.

How many times have we walked away and just missed the best part? I remember last Spring the Air Force Thunder Birds were going to fly over our area to salute frontline health workers. I went to a wide open place under the published flight path. I was sitting there waiting but then I grew impatient. So I decided to walk back to my car. My timing was off. By the time the Thunder Birds flew over, I was under some trees. I barely saw them between the branches of the tree I was under. How sad. I missed seeing them. If I had waited 3 more minutes, I would have seen them in clear view.

If God is about to do something good, I don’t want to miss it because I’ve decided to check out before it’s time. God said I sounded like a coward. Those words stung. I don’t want to be known by that word. Coward means a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things. As I read that, I knew I needed God to help me with more courage. So now I pray in the morning for courage. Courage means mental or moral strength to persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.

Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, Give me courage today. Help me have fortitude to bear the minefields of bad new I may encounter. Show me how to watch the news in the spirit of faith instead of letting it depress me. Give me the strength to stand up and watch even when it looks like evil will prevail. Give me confidence in your plan, that souls will be saved. That you will take care of the godly. Lead me in Your plan for me this day while I stand in faith and watch what You will do in our country. In Jesus name, Amen.

God’s Words to us: I have heard your prayer and I will answer you. I will help you in the little things while we wait for some of the bigger things to be resolved. I’m glad you have purposed yourself to stand with me and watch how this all works itself out. I have put the right players on the field. It’s their turn now.

Friends, I invite you to wait in faith with me. Pray for courage each morning. I have now and it truly has made a difference. Give it a try.

Here is news and information sources I’ve found helpful. News in the spirit of faith, Victory News and Flashpoint. Also check out Mike Lindell’s documentary just released last week. It is on new findings on what happened during the last election.
