Our Christmas Story

For many years Christmas was the same. We celebrated with the same people and didn’t divert from the same traditions. Life changes, however. For example: kids move out, relatives move away or pass on and job requirements change. Additionally, this year I have to consider my health as well. I wonder how much noise and activity I can handle? That is why I have begun to pray early concerning this holiday season.

Dear God: Lead us this holiday season. Guide us in what to do, where to go, what to buy and who to be with. I’m trying to guard and preserve the low amount of energy I have during this time. I need You to write our Christmas story this year.

God’s Word to Us: I want you to have a nice Christmas season this year. I will go before you and make things sparkle and shine. You will just know which things are right for your family. Let Me lead you day by day. Can you trust Me with this? You will have a lovely Christmas story this year. I promise.

My Heart’s Cry is for us to remember God is writing the story with us. He knows where this story is taking us. Pray, then let Him lead you day by day through the season. Watch for what shines and sparkles. That’s His hint. Then let the rest go! Keep looking for what He is doing this Christmas and take joy in what you see.

For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
    And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

God has been writing this beautiful Christmas Story from the beginning. Trust Him to continue this story in your life this year. Times may be changing, but the reason we celebrate remains the same. It’s Jesus birthday!

May God bless you with peace this season.
