Human Error

I have to tell a little story on myself. I bought new ink cartridges for my printer the other day. When I put them in the printer, there was an error code. This time I decided to buy the XL size cartridge instead of the regular sized cartridge. I thought to myself, humm. . . maybe it doesn’t like the XL size. It didn’t seem to click in as nicely as the regular size. I looked on their online help page but that was no use. So I called their toll free service number. The service tech went over the model and printer specs. Then he asked me about the cartridge number. I told him it was 920. He said, “are you sure that’s what it says?”  “Yes, 920.”  Meanwhile, I looked at my printer, where the replacement cartridge number is listed and it clearly says 902.

Oh dear, user error! Yep, that’s me. I made the dreaded user error mistake. I transposed two of the numbers and now I’m stuck with a printer that doesn’t work until I get the new cartridges. At least I was only trying to print a one page chore chart for my daughter. But all in all, I felt pretty foolish for making this human error and I hate wasting $60 too.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, why do I have to make such foolish mistakes like that?  It cost me time and money! I just hate it when I mess up like that.

God’s Word to Us: You are going to make mistakes. It’s inevitable. Going throughout life can’t be perfect. So when you do make mistakes like this, be quick to forgive yourself. Then you can move on. Don’t carry the weight of these mistakes with you. That could end up being a pretty heavy load. So off load it by forgiving yourself as soon as possible. You will feel a difference right away.

My Heart’s Cry  for us is to remember to forgive ourselves and show ourselves love. My love for myself should be patient and kind too, as it is for others. God has taught me how to forgive others, now I need to apply that forgiveness towards myself. Certainly we should not give up or lose faith because we make mistakes. God has already redeemed us, mistakes and all! And if I’m still suffering the consequences of one of my many  mistakes, may I remain hopeful and endure through every circumstance.

“I forgive myself.” I actually said those words out loud to myself today. And you know what? It helped.  I felt lighter. And, I could feel God smiling on me.

Try it. Say it out loud. “I forgive myself.” You don’t have to feel like forgiving yourself, you just need to decide to do it. Purposefully give that human error to Him. Trust me, it will make your load lighter.

“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”   I Peter 5:7
